Spring Fling with Smoked Wings
The SAAZ Spring Fling with Smoked Wings Intra-Club Homebrew Competition is May 18th, 2014 at the Broken Barrel Tavern! This is a great way to get feedback on your brews, win some prizes, and earn some SAAZ bragging rights. Ohhh…and did I mention WINGS?! Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category and the Best of Show. Entries will be judged by fellow SAAZ members and BJCP judges based on the BJCP Style Guidelines. Entries are $4 each – Cash or check only (NO PayPal). Please submit 3 bottles per entry (2 bottle entries are accepted but will not be eligible for B.O.S.). Here is the link for online registration via the Reggie entry system. Please get your entries to any of the SAAZ officer. Online entry and drop-off deadline is May 16th, 2014! We are accepting entries in several styles grouped into the following categories:
1. Pale Ale (10A) & IPA (14) 2. Porters (12) & Stouts (13) 3. Cider & Mead (24-28) 4. Fruit (20), Spice, Herb, Veggie (21), & Specialty (23)
Prizes: Gold Medal Winners in each Category receive $25 gift cards and BOS Winner gets a barrel!!!

Spring Fling with Smoked Wings – May 18th, 10:30am @ The Broken Barrel Tavern
Calling all BCJP judges, those interested in becoming BJCP judging and stewards!!! We need your help to judge/steward the Spring Fling entries.
Broken Barrel will open at 10:30am, if you can help please arrive then to help us unload and set up. Once everything is ready we will begin judging and stewarding entries. We need all hands on deck to help out – this is our practice for Commander SAAZ! We will have 1st Round, 2nd Round and BOS to do before the meeting at 2pm.
Smoked Wings will be served for lunch for the Spring Fling Volunteers and Brewers, donated by Broken Barrel.

RAFFLE RAFFLE RAFFLE
Bottoms Up Beer Run – June 7th, 6:30pm @ Wickham Park 
The Bottoms Up Beer Run is a fun 4K that combines running (or walking) with homebrew along the way. Brewers from SAAZ will be providing 5 different homebrews for enjoyment along the course. Participants (21y/o and up) can consume 4 – 4oz beer shots along the race course and finish with a full beer. The race is professionally timed by the Running Zone so you can race your way through quickly to a personal best or take your time sipping along the way and laugh at how long it took you to do a 4K. Proceeds from the race benefit St. Baldrick’s and SAAZ. This is our second year and we have plans to make this year even bigger and better than the first year but we need your help. Ways you can be a part of this FUNdraiser!

- Join us at Running for Brews as we promote the run next week – this is a 5K run/walk followed by a FREE BEER

Summer Party – June 14th, Noon – ??? @ Chet Sparks’ House in Titusville
Join us for our annual Summer Party! We will be enjoying BBQ and beer by the pool, so bring your swim suits and towels.
Don’t forget:

- Bag of ice
- Your entry for the lawn mower homebrew competition – the creator of the best easy drinking summer beer will receive high honors, bragging rights and the coveted lawnmower trophy
- Non-members welcome – $5 (but why not just join the club?)
- Raffle $$$ – we’ll be having another BIG RAFFLE with another homebrew kit in the mix, so bring your $$$, support the club and get cool swag

Feel free to party on into the night, and bring a tent, camper, motorhome or just a sleeping bag to stay the night. Email Kristen for the address and directions.
Come early and help set up or stay late and help clean!!! The Beer Engine doesn’t assemble itself and we all know you want the drink the beer. Please help out the club, we are always in need of extra hands.

Wrap Up from Big Brew Day!
On May 3rd SAAZ members celebrated National Homebrew Day by brewing at Brock’s. We had a great turnout and brewed many beers for the Bottoms Up Beer Run. Check out the pictures from Big Brew.

You can view the entire list of publications here. If you see something that interests you, simply send an email to the librarian with your name and the publication title, and the Librarian will bring it to the next monthly member meeting.
