June 2018

Brought to you by Platinum Sponsor

President’s Blowoff

Hi Brewers!

Wow….what an amazing weekend we have had for BUBR! Not only did we set record attendance but the feedback from our runners was immensely positive in how the race was organized. So, thank you to all of our volunteers! We could not have done this without everyone’s help and dedication. I would especially like to thank Anne Gregg our race director and the other officers for their tireless work to get everything together for the run. Thanks to Christie Berrier for our amazing logo this year! The shirts looked amazing!

So, let’s enjoy June as a club! We have our Summer Party on June 16 at pelican Beach park in Indian harbor beach. We will be serving some amazing brisket which we were able to get for everyone. And I can’t wait to see what sides you guys dream up! Bring the family it will be an amazing day!

We also have the Brew Bus at the end of the month June 30. It will be an amazing time. Several tours and great beer and food! If you haven’t signed up yet there are still a few seats left!

I look forward to seeing everyone next weekend! Again, immense gratitude to all you club members that helped make BUBR a huge success!!!

Cheers!

Brian

Next Club Event

It’s SUMMER!    It’s a PARTY!

It’s the SAAZ SUMMER PARTY!

Saturday, June 16th – 12 noon to 5pm
Pelican Beach Clubhouse
1495 SR-A1A, Satellite Beach

The party is FREE to PAID members and family living in the same household. Other family and guests (including non-paid “members”) are $5 per person for anyone over 21. (PSST… your best bet is to pay up your 2018 dues and you’re set for this party, SAAZtoberfest, and discounts on other member events).
The main entrée will be mouthwatering brisket (yum!), expertly cooked by our club’s chefs. If you need a vegetarian option, email editor@saaz.org by 6/12, or we’ll assume you and everyone you’re bringing are carnivores or will make due with non-meat side dishes.

Speaking of side dishes…. Plan to bring your best side dishes to share. We’re having a “SUPER SIDE IT!” food competition, so you KNOW the grub will be awesome! Of course, there’s a nice prize for the winner, in addition to the adoration of your grateful fellow club members.

Bring your entries for the Lawnmower Homebrew Competition and other homebrews you’d like to have our beer enthusiasts “Ooo” and “Ahhh” over.

Add in cornhole, football, and other “tailgate” games, and heck… we’re on the BEACH!!! Bring your suits. towels, sunblock and beach games.

Next Intra-Club Challenge

Yep, it’s time for LAWNMOWER BEER!   Brew up your best light, refreshing summer beer (5% or less ABV)
that you would grab on a hot day after mowing the yard to compete for a $50 Brock’s gift card.
Judging (and drinking!) will take place at the Summer Party on July 16th.

  • BUBR medals were assembled.

A few reminders for those who are signed up for the June 30th bus trip to Orlando area breweries…

  • Meet up at World of Beer (Viera) parking lot at 10:30am
  • All new members must sign the SAAZ Code of Conduct before boarding the bus
  • Feel free to bring snacks and drinks for the ride, but remember that everyone who goes is responsible for the bus being clean at the end of the night
  • Lunch consisting of sub sandwich and chips will be provided at the first brewery
  • Dinner will be “pay your own way” at our evening stop
  • Approximate return time to World of Beer is 10:30pm

Let’s have fun but stay safe!  Please have alternate transportation options available if needed upon your return… have a friend or family member pick you up, or use Lyft or Uber.   If you live some distance away, remember that there are a few hotels right there at Viera (Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, La Quinta) at Viera.

Commander SAAZ Sponsorships Available

Do you have friends/contacts with businesses?  Our Commander SAAZ event offers sponsorship levels suitable for any budget.  Each competition entrant (and we expect many hundreds since this competition does not have an entry limit) will receive a printout, similar to the sponsors page on SAAZ’s website.  The listing follows the order of the sponsorship levels (Platinum sponsors listed first, then Gold, and so on).  By donating to our competition, companies will be getting their product to the appropriate and appreciative beer-centric audience.  Email Cmdr.SAAZ@saaz.org if you can help with sponsors, either by recruiting the sponsor yourself or by providing a lead for a potential sponsor.  We have an introductory letter that provides information about SAAZ, its educational and community service work, and explains the sponsorship levels.
